About UsDo you always finish all of your food at a restaurant? If not, do you know where the food goes? Imagine walking into a landfill with towering piles of decaying food. Every year Americans waste 30 million pounds of food. First STEP takes this wasted food and transforms it into a product that you are then able to use it to give back to the earth. First STEP composts wasted food from restaurants and turns it into compost that consumers, such as gardeners or landscaping companies, can use to improve the health of their lawn. Make the decision to come with us on our First STEP.

Meet Our Team
Julia
Senior at Dundee-Crown High School. I love giving back to the community and always giving an extra hand to anyone who needs it. I'm a student athlete, I love the game of volleyball, I have been playing for 7 years now. I joined First STEP as an intern because I love the idea of giving back and the plan of saving the earth is a passion of mine. My plan in this company is to help expand its horizons in making a profit. I take over most of the responsibility in theclassroom; which is taking over the sales aspect, and communicating with other vendors. Maxx I am a Senior at dundee crown high school. I am in track and live on a small farm. I deal with most of the money aspect and product sales of First STEP compost. I joined first step because there is great potential in the business and i am pleased to be part of it. Sean I am a Junior at Dundee Crown High School. I’ve played soccer at Dundee Crown High School since my freshman year. I do what needs to be done because I don’t really have a set responsibility. I joined First STEP because I wanted to give back to the environment and the best way to do that was to join this business and help make that happen! David I am a Senior at Dundee Crown High School, I have attended Dundee Crown all of my high school life. I am one of the interns that has been later added onto the group and hope to eventually succeed at creating a successful business. I joined First STEP because I really love the idea of saving the earth, and giving back to the community. My plan is to to help this company become successful in anyway possible. Esteban I’m the “engineer” in the group. Currently attending ECC for an associates in science and engineering. Soon to transfer to NIU for a major in Electrical Engineering. I’m a builder, designer. I spend my free time constructing and building the random ideas I get in class. I work at Ace Hardware, where not only I get paid to help people from my community with their projects, but I get to to explore different resources and materials for my own projects. I am one of the five of the original entrepreneurs who started First STEP. We started First STEP as a school project and currently converting it into a real working business. My goal for our company is to take it great heights. Why stop at food waste, why not branch out, and “re-use” other wasted resources. Overall, I’m proud to call myself an entrepreneur at the age of eighteen |
Charles Gilly
Currently attending my first year of college at ecc spend my time outside of school either working at a local ace hardware or playing various online games with friends. For first step my current goals are to get the company of the ground and then expand it to the most of our current capabilities then sell to a competitor that is able to advance our current ideas for the company to a higher level. Cuauhtemoc Fabian I'm currently a co-founder of First STEP and a first year college student at Elgin Community College. I'm studying to get a bachelor's in business administration or a bachelor's in engineering (still deciding). My passion is future tech and hobbies consist of biking, video games, golfing, and my love for watching movies. The main reason that I decided to take the First STEP is because I've seen first hand how much a restaurant waste food. I work at a restaurant, and the amount of food people and the restaurant itself is insane. I want live in a cleaner earth that will last for future generations to come. Gabe Martinez I'm an owner in the First STEP. My goals are to continue furthering it throughout the upcoming years, and see the development of our idea into something tangible. The impact we can make potentially on our environment is what I'm striving to achieve. Overall, the Business Incubator course has given me something to work for and gave me hugeopportunity that I'm pursuing everyday. Michael Holmes I'm an owner at First STEP. Currently I'm enrolled at DePaul university at Chicago. My goals are to manage the sales team and help us exceed our goals. I'm a very social person who loves talking to people and giving a sales pitch all the time, it just comes naturally to me. |
